Planning both short and long-term is why winning lifelong learning programs win. It is best to have a two-five year strategic plan that is updated yearly and a one-year business plan built each year.
LERN has a model for each and I have been developing sample plans for the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute Conference I am attending this week. Most lifelong learning programs think about the future, but documentation does not often follow. Having written plans provides a vision, as well as setting accountability.
